First Responder Organization (FRO)

The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), along with the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) currently recognizes 4 levels of EMS Certification: Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), and Paramedic (EMT-P).

Regarding medical emergencies, Wall VFD currently has 4 Paramedics, 4 EMTs, and 2 EMRs. Wall VFD is a recognized and licensed Emergency Medical Service (EMS) First Responder Organization (FRO) through TDSHS. Wall VFD operates in accordance with the Concho Valley Regional Advisory Council (CVRAC).

Wall VFD medical responders are certified to perform in accordance with the protocols at the EMR or EMT level as per their certification. Those certified as Paramedics are restricted to the EMT level of care until a San Angelo Fire Department (SAFD) ambulance arrives on the scene. At that time, they may assist the SAFD Paramedics as requested.
